30th June, 2025
Good morning
As part of our programme of Universal Credit & Housing benefit-related courses, we have arranged three new dates, two of which will be held in Glasgow and one in Edinburgh. Each course is designed to improve the knowledge of frontline staff, tasked with assisting tenants to tackle the complexities of Universal Credit.
- A full-day course “Universal Credit – How to tackle problem areas and avoid rent arrears” is one of our favourite courses, will be held on 27th August 2025 at the Training Rooms, 36 Washington Street, Glasgow, G3 8AZ. The venue is located next to Anderston train station, just off the M8 at junction 18, with parking available. More details can be found here.
- A full-day course “Introduction to Universal Credit – New and inexperienced staff,” will be held in the Edinburgh Training Centre, a 5-minute walk from Edinburgh’s Waverley Station. The course requires no prior knowledge of Universal Credit and will cover all the key elements of the claim, payment, and appeal processes. More details, including the programme, can be found here.
- This is a morning-only session, covering “Universal Credit – Challenging suspensions, cancellations, overpayments and their Recovery” and should interest the more experienced housing officers, finance, welfare rights, and financial inclusion staff. The course has been in high demand in-house and via Teams, due to the ever-increasing number of disputes over managed migration, transitional protection, enhanced reviews of claims, and the DWP’s Debt Management department’s pursuit of overpayments. More details of costs, venue, etc, can be found here
If you’re interested in booking, email linzi@ucadvice.co.uk or need to clarify anything, phone me at 07733 080 389
All our courses can also be run face-to-face, in-house, and shared with neighbouring organisations to share costs. We can also adapt the courses to fit 2–3-hour sessions via Zoom/Teams if that’s your preference. If any option interests you, contact me to discuss your requirements, dates, costs, etc., bill@ucadvice.co.uk
We hope you find the courses of interest.
